Giacomo Montanelli’s painting investigates the grammar of images through primary, allusive, and coded forms rendered in decisive colours. His carefully structured compositions focus attention on visual language itself and on the ways in which shapes and colours interact to generate meaning, thought, and narrative. His subjects often evoke the tension between individual and community and the traces both leave upon the world. His work has been exhibited at institutions and galleries including Keteleer Gallery, Antwerp; Fondazione ICA Milano; Ordet, Milan; Fondazione Adolfo Pini; Renata Fabbri, Milan; and Area Treviglio. He has participated in several artist residencies, including the Painting Symposium at Fondazione Lac o Le Mon in Lecce. He graduated in Painting from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and lives and works between San Miniato and Milan.
