Maria Fragoso

María Fragoso’s painting explores intimacy, desire, identity, and sexuality through figurative scenes suspended between reality and imagination. Her compositions construct alternative worlds populated by figures inhabiting environments that are simultaneously theatrical, magical, and familiar. She studied painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture residency programme in 2019. Her work has been exhibited at venues including Thierry Goldberg Gallery, 1969 Gallery, Human Resources, and Machete. She lives and works in Mexico City.
