“Il mio ‘manifestino A4’ è un “Cadavre exquis” fatto in solitaria, mi diverte sempre farli con i miei amici, in compagnia, ed è sempre bello scoprire cosa ne verrà fuori. Questo, ora, non lo posso fare, perciò gioco con me stessa e attendo che vi intervengano gli altri da casa. Intanto ricordo di non esser ciechi, di tendere bene le orecchie e ascoltare quando ci viene detto di ‘stare a casa’. Noi tutti dobbiamo essere i nostri migliori amici, con cui giocare, con cui stare, con cui sperare, così da poter essere utili anche agli altri non contagiandoli, ma integrandoli e invitandoli silenziosamente al nostro fare”.
Silvia Mei’s painting is deeply introspective, using the medium to explore and reveal the hidden corners of human psychology: the weight and meaning of interpersonal relationships, the consequences of actions and thoughts, and the visual and mental contrasts capable of generating unexpected reactions. Often layered and built through successive transformations, her paintings evolve in parallel with the changes and mutations that characterise life itself. Her work has been exhibited in institutions and galleries across Europe, North America, and Asia. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sassari and later specialised in Painting at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. She lives and works in the province of Bergamo.
