Gabriele De Santis’s practice investigates the ways in which an object can be liberated from its conventional state and transported into the territory of fine art, exploring the consequences of this displacement. His series include painted marble slabs presented as diptychs and monochrome surfaces made of skateboard grip tape mounted on wheels. He has exhibited at Frieze Sculpture Park, London (2014); Mostyn Oriel Museum, Wales (2014); Depart Foundation, Los Angeles (2014); Galerie Chez Valentin, Paris; MACRO Rome; CAC Vilnius; and Nomas Foundation, Rome. In 2010, he received the Moroso Prize for Contemporary Art. He earned an MA in Visual Arts from the University of the Arts London in 2010 and lives and works in Rome.
