Luigi Presicce’s practice intertwines painting, sculpture, and performance in a body of work drawing upon magical and ritual iconography, the Stories of the True Cross, and the liturgies of the body and death. He attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Lecce, deliberately choosing not to defend his thesis, and his work has been profoundly shaped by independent study. In 2007, he participated in the CSAV programme at Fondazione Antonio Ratti with Joan Jonas, and in 2008 attended the Viafarini workshop in Milan with Kim Jones. That same year, he co-founded Brownmagazine and Brown Project Space in Milan with Luca Francesconi and Valentina Suma. In 2011, he founded Archiviazioni in Lecce; in 2012, he joined the Artists in Residence programme at MACRO Rome. Since 2010, he has been involved in the Lu Cafausu project, through which he was invited to dOCUMENTA(13) in Kassel. In 2016, he became a founding member of Fondazione Lac o le Mon in San Cesario di Lecce. In 2017, he co-founded the Scuola di Santa Rosa in Florence with Francesco Lauretta. In 2018, he participated in the Studio Program at Artists Alliance in New York. He has performed at Fondazione Claudio Buziol, Venice; Centre Pompidou, Paris; the Thessaloniki Performance Festival; and Frac Champagne-Ardenne. He lives and works in Florence.
