Marcella Vanzo’s practice spans video, installation, performance, poetry, and participatory art, exploring the many dimensions of human existence—from the social and political to the emotional and mythical. Her work intertwines reality and fiction in dense narratives that challenge established modes of representation. A significant aspect of her practice is devoted to social transformation through education and participatory methodologies. In 2019, she founded The Momentary Now School of Performance, an annual programme hosted by ZONA K in Milan, now in its sixth edition. She has participated in Manifesta 11 (Zurich, 2016), Performa 09 (New York, 2009), and the Jakarta Biennale (2017), and has received both the Acacia Prize and the New York Prize. She teaches Performance Practices at Accademia Carrara in Bergamo and the Accademia Ligustica in Genoa. She lives and works in Milan.
