Roberto Pugliese’s research draws energy from two artistic currents—sound art and kinetic and programmed art—producing sound and visual installations that shape space and immerse viewers in perceptual experiences. In 2012, he was the only Italian artist selected for the international exhibition Sound Art. Sound as Medium of Art at ZKM Karlsruhe, where his work Equilibrium entered the institution’s permanent collection. He received an Honorary Mention for Sound Art at Ars Electronica, Linz (2013), and a Special Mention at VIDA 14, Telefónica Fundación, Madrid. Solo exhibitions include Emergenze acustiche at Tenuta dello Scompiglio, Lucca; Concerto per Natura Morta at MUSE, Trento; Echi liquidi at TRA, Treviso; and Piazza del Vento, realised in collaboration with Renzo Piano Building Workshop in Genoa. He collaborates with Galerie Mario Mazzoli in Berlin and Studio la Città in Verona. He graduated in Electronic Music from the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory in Naples under Agostino Di Scipio, teaches Multimedia at the Naples Conservatory, and lives and works in Naples.
