Thomas Berra’s painting inhabits a dreamlike and botanical imagination, attentive to wild and wandering plants, rural landscapes traversed by solitary figures, and places of origin and return. His research engages with figuration through a refined formal sensibility that combines romantic lyricism with a quietly melancholic irony, resulting in works of remarkable poetic coherence. Among his distinctions are the 6artista Prize (2017), finalist status for the Cairo Prize (2018), and the Arte Museo di Ca’ Pesaro Prize at ArtVerona (2022). He has undertaken residencies at Fondazione Pastificio Cerere in Rome and Schafhof – European House of Art Upper Bavaria in Freising. In 2023, he presented the solo exhibition In quel camminare dove i piedi ti portano at Ca’ Pesaro, Venice. He studied at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and lives and works in Helsinki.
