Chiara Capellini’s painting is dedicated to void, meditation and the investigation of vision as both a physical and an inner phenomenon. Her subject is the transition between a mental image and its dissolution into something else: not the representation or resemblance of a thing, but the moment in which an idea passes between seeing something and seeing nothing. Working through subtraction, she removes elements from the painted surface in pursuit of a depth of vision built with minimal means, treating the act of taking away as the precondition for thinking, for arriving at the core of a concept. Recurring in her work is a quiet aspiration to a synthesis between randomness and awareness, in response to the contemporary obsession with hyper-production: to aim for the minimum because anything less would no longer make sense.

She graduated from NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan. Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad, including *The Shape of Ideas* at Cadogan Gallery in Milan (2024), with whom she works continuously. She lives and works in Milan.
