Simone Monsi’s sculptural practice draws inspiration from social media aesthetics, Japanese animation, and conspiracy theories in order to explore the sensibility of internet culture. His work reinterprets images and viral content obsessively collected from microblogging platforms—unnatural sunsets caused by atmospheric pollution, anime stills, melancholic phrases—translating them into sculptures, installations, and plexiglass banners. He participated in the 16th Rome Quadriennale in 2016 and in Artissima with the Deposito d’Arte Italiana Presente project in 2017. He earned an MFA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London, in 2016 and lives and works in Milan.
