Fabio Roncato’s sculptural research unfolds at the intersection of bodily practice, natural forces, and a reflection on the limits of visual representation. His Momentum series, initiated in 2016, originates from direct encounters with water: molten wax is poured into the currents of rivers such as the Brenta and the Adda, where it solidifies instantly into unique forms that are later cast in aluminium. These works capture the uncontrollable energy of flowing water and transform it into sculpture. His practice has been shaped by numerous residencies, including Atelier Bevilacqua La Masa in Venice, VIR Viafarini in Residence in Milan, Fondazione Spinola Banna per l’Arte in Turin, the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht, and the Shanghai Prize residency at East China Normal University. Selected solo exhibitions include Momentum at the National Mountain Museum in Turin, Ultramar at MARS, Milan, and Il pianeta dove evaporano le rocce at the Civic Museums of Bassano del Grappa (2018). He graduated in Painting from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and lives and works in Milan.
