Marinella Senatore is a multidisciplinary artist trained in music, fine arts and cinema, whose practice is defined by a strong collective and participatory dimension that operates as both method and content. Combining rigorous aesthetic research with the transformative power of social engagement, she works through vernacular and popular forms — pop culture, dance, music, mass events, activism — to reflect on the political nature of collective formations and rituals and on their potential for social change. Light is a recurring material — both electric and metaphorical — used as a tool for narration, poetic creation, resistance and cohesion; her *luminarie* and large-scale installations function as temporary architectural structures hosting moments of encounter, ritual and gathering.

In 2012 she founded *The School of Narrative Dance*, a nomadic, free, non-hierarchical school proposing an alternative educational model based on emancipation, empowerment and self-education, which has so far engaged communities in over 23 countries. She has participated in the 54th Venice Biennale, Manifesta 12 in Palermo, the Liverpool, Lyon, Athens, Havana, São Paulo, Thessaloniki and Gothenburg biennials. Solo presentations have taken place at Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Museum der Moderne in Salzburg, Museum Villa Stuck in Munich, Kestner Gesellschaft in Hannover, Castello di Rivoli, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, Magazzino Italian Art in New York and Tang Contemporary Art in Beijing. She lives and works between Rome and Paris.
