Giuseppe Stampone’s practice ranges from multimedia installations and video works to drawings executed with the Bic pen, a medium through which he investigates icons of both the past and the present using layered veils of imagery and a rhythm of execution that does not always align with the pace imposed by the contemporary art system. He is the founder of Progetto Solstizio, developed in collaboration with the European Union and realised across multiple countries worldwide. Since 2002, he has collaborated with artist Maria Crispal on the shared project Global Education. In 2021, Bic produced Blu Stampone, a colour dedicated to the artist. His work has been exhibited at the 56th Venice Biennale (2015), the Gwangju Biennale, MAXXI Rome, GAMeC Bergamo, and Palazzo Reale in Milan. He is represented by Prometeo Gallery and teaches Painting Techniques at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. He lives and works between Teramo, Brussels, and Rome.
