Thomas Braida’s practice spans painting, drawing, and sculpture, constructing a dense and visionary universe that draws upon popular and religious iconography, current events, and art history. His often grotesque figures emerge from a raw painterly materiality that spills beyond the canvas and coagulates into ephemeral sculptural forms. For Braida, everything is painting in the sense that everything is filtered through colour. He participated in the Padiglione Crepaccio at yoox.com during the Venice Biennale in 2013. Recent solo exhibitions include Hýbris, Debris, Pastis at the Museo Nazionale Concordiese in Portogruaro (2023), La bava sul cuscino at Le Dictateur, Milan (2019), and Solo at Palazzo Nani Bernardo, Venice (2017), curated by Caroline Corbetta. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice and lives and works in Venice.
