Andrea Fontanari’s painting is rooted in the observation of everyday life: inhabited rooms, staircases, and abandoned beds become the territory of an investigation that begins with a hyperrealist intention and, through a process of reduction, reveals the nature of light and colour, transforming the ordinary into the monumental. In 2017, he was selected among five Italian artists under thirty-five for the travelling European contemporary art biennial JCE. In 2019, he was selected for the VAF Prize. In 2021, he won the Montani Tesei Under 35 Prize at ArtVerona, and in 2022 he was a finalist for the 21st Cairo Prize at Palazzo Reale in Milan. He was included in Pittura italiana oggi, curated by Damiano Gullì and published by Electa. He trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice and collaborates regularly with Boccanera Gallery in Trento and Milan. He lives and works between Trento and Venice.
