Vera Portatadino’s practice is entirely devoted to painting, understood both as a mode of thinking and as a field of inquiry into the relationship between abstraction and figuration. In 2014, she founded Yellow, an independent research platform dedicated to contemporary painting based in Varese within the broader Zentrum project. Until 2019, she directed the initiative through exhibitions, publications, and international exchanges with European non-profit spaces. In 2018, she received the Premio Città di Treviglio and was awarded a special mention by the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice for a residency project engaging with the institution’s permanent collection. Her works are held in public collections including MART Rovereto. She studied Visual Arts at NABA in Milan before completing a PgDip and an MA in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and Design in London. She lives and works in Milan.
