Lorenzo Scotto di Luzio’s multidisciplinary practice employs photography, video, installation, drawing, and kinetic sculpture to develop an ironic and incisive reflection on contemporary society and the power structures that shape it. His approach is never one of direct criticism but rather of commentary: a frequently tragicomic representation—often compared by critics to the work of George Grosz and Otto Dix—that leaves judgement to the viewer. In 1992, together with Giulia Piscitelli and Pasquale Cassandro, he founded Studio Aperto Multimediale, an independent experimental space in the historic centre of Naples. Recent exhibitions include Una mostra straordinaria at Vistamare, Pescara (2022), and Basteln at T293, Rome. He lives and works between Berlin and Naples.
