“Gli abiti sono impulsi e quando incontrano il corpo fanno stile. Lo abitano spingendo fuori dal buio dell’armadio la nostra personalità”.

Sissi’s practice spans sculpture, drawing, and performance, generating installations and site-specific projects in which the body—through its transformations, extensions, and prosthetic forms—serves as both point of departure and recurring subject. Her work has been exhibited at major international institutions, including the Chelsea Art Museum and the Brooklyn Museum in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Miami, and Tate Modern in London. In 2002, she was awarded the Querini Stampalia Prize “Furla per l’Arte”; in 2005, she received the New York Prize, established by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Italian Cultural Institute of New York, and the Italian Academy at Columbia University. Born Daniela Olivieri, she lives and works between Bologna and London.
