Lia Cecchin’s practice is founded upon the rejection of conventional notions of artistic creation: reality itself constitutes her field of inquiry. By exhibiting films, books, and ordinary objects within newly constructed narratives, she develops an expansive shared code through an archival methodology capable of describing the present while imagining a possible near future in which anyone might recognise themselves as a protagonist. Among her recognitions are First Prize in the Sculpture and Installation category of the Combat Prize (2018) and finalist status for the Francesco Fabbri Prize the same year. Her work has been exhibited at Italian and international institutions, galleries, and non-profit spaces including Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa in Venice, GAM Milan, Associazione Barriera and PAV Parco Arte Vivente in Turin, Greylight Projects in Brussels, and MAMbo in Bologna. She graduated in Visual and Performing Arts from IUAV University of Venice in 2010 and lives and works in Turin.
