Andrea Sala

Andrea Sala’s research lies at the intersection of historical aesthetics, nineteenth-century avant-garde experimentation, and industrial production, investigating the tensions between essential form and material process. At the core of his practice is the choice of material: selected for its intrinsic properties, it undergoes transformation throughout every stage of production, becoming an active agent rather than a passive support. His work achieves its resolution through formal essentiality, attained by applying traditional techniques to industrial materials—or, conversely, industrial processes to artisanal ones. He lives and works in Milan.
