Vickie Vainionpää’s painting explores the impact of technology and digitalisation on the painterly process, using 3D modelling software to generate forms, colours, and compositions that are subsequently refined by hand with linseed oil, creating a dialogue between painting traditions and new digital ways of understanding space. Exhibitions include Parallel Wilderness at Galerie AVE, Montreal; Storefront at Robert Fontaine Gallery, Miami; and Gardeàvue at Galerie Sabine Bayasli, Paris. She graduated in Visual Arts from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, and lives and works in Montreal.
