Ruth Beraha’s research investigates elements commonly labelled as evil, foreign, or unknown, focusing on the dissolution of the certainties through which we experience the world. Through immersive sound works, sculpture, installation, drawing, and photography, she invites viewers to consider the Adversary not as a distant or incomprehensible entity, but as a constitutive part of identity itself. Her work has been exhibited at institutions including Pirelli HangarBicocca, MAMbo Bologna, MACRO Rome, Ca’ Rezzonico Museum in Venice, GAMeC Bergamo, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, and Fondazione Trussardi. In 2017, she collaborated with Giorgio Andreotta Calò and Roberto Cuoghi on the Italian Pavilion at the 57th Venice Biennale. In 2020, she received the New York Prize, which included a residency at ISCP Brooklyn and a Research Affiliate Fellowship at Columbia University. She studied Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies at NABA in Milan and lives and works in Bologna.
