Michela De Mattei’s practice constructs imaginary scenarios through the direct use of materials and moving images, investigating different forms of authority and human control over nature through unusual associations between animals, environments, objects, and people. Recent projects and collaborations include Nuovo Cinema Galleria; Galeria Vera Cortez, Lisbon (2020); Alserkal Residency, Dubai (2019); Blushing, a solo exhibition at Belmacz, London (2019); and The Shape of a Circle in the Mind of a Fish, Part 1: Language, curated by Filipa Ramos and Lucia Pietroiusti at Serpentine Galleries and ZSL London Zoo (2018). She lives and works in London.
