Bruno Marrapodi’s pictorial practice is rooted in narrative and figurative representation, where storytelling, anecdote and symbolic figures combine with saturated colour and a strong graphic line. Across his canvases, urban and imaginary landscapes are populated by small human figures set in extravagant, dreamlike places where the real and the oneiric coexist. Early works carry a mix of local tradition, crime, cabaret and grotesque storytelling with marked cinematic undertones; more recent paintings move towards radical synthesis, with recurring iconographic motifs — castles, animals — functioning as archetypes of an instinctive, fairy-tale world. He has also extended his pictorial vocabulary into animated video, composing original soundtracks to accompany his moving drawings.

He graduated from IED in Milan, specialising in painting. His work has been shown at Manifesta 12 in Palermo, at Studio d’Arte Cannaviello in Milan within the Nuova Pittura Italiana programme, and in galleries across Italy and Europe. He lives and works in Milan.
