Ludovica Anversa’s painting inhabits a liminal territory between figuration and abstraction, where personal imagery is layered with hybrid theoretical and visual references without ever resolving into linear narrative. Her process is rooted in deconstruction and stratification, producing a continuous oscillation between presence and absence, evocative potential and negation of the image. The figures that populate her canvases are uncanny and metamorphic, coexisting on the surface as permeable, receptive entities — bodies that elude immediate definition, surfacing and submerging again as semi-abstractions, after-images, radiographic spectres. Vulnerability, the relationship between perception and the represented body, and the precariousness of the image itself recur as central concerns.

She studied Painting and Visual Arts at NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan, where she was assistant to Adrian Paci, and in 2020 took part in the residency programmes of Palazzo Monti in Brescia and Manifattura Tabacchi in Florence. In 2021 she won the Premio Francesco Fabbri per le Arti Contemporanee. Her work has been presented at Fondazione La Rocca in Pescara, MAC Museo d’Arte Contemporanea in Lissone, Galleria Massimo Minini in Brescia, The Address Gallery in Brescia, New Galerie in Paris, ArtNoble in Milan, Galleria Renata Fabbri in Milan, Mana Contemporary in Jersey City and Fondazione Adolfo Pini in Milan. She lives and works in Milan.
