SAGG NAPOLI is the semi-autobiographical research project initiated in 2014 by Sofia Alice Ginevra Giannì. Taking Naples as a point of departure, the project maps contemporary cultures and subcultures across a territory understood as a bridge between the Global North and South. Framed through the concept of #southaesthetics, the research unfolds through objects, video, social media, performance, and the artist’s own embodied presence—dress, style, and gesture—as tools for examining the socio-economic condition of Southern Europe and the politics of cultural identity. Among its recognitions are finalist status for the AFFAsin Visual Arts Award from The Arts Foundation (2020), the Flat Time House Research Award (2014), a residency at Pitch/Unilever (2015), and a residency at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw (2018). The project has been presented internationally at venues including Basement Roma, Galerie Champ Lacombe in Biarritz and London, and in a performance commissioned by Dior in Paris in 2024. Giannì graduated in Fine Art from Camberwell College of Arts, London.
