Albert Pinya’s practice encompasses drawing, painting, sculpture, and installation, constructing a highly recognisable visual universe populated by figures, vibrant colours, and narratives drawn from cinema, television series, comics, and animation. His energetic and distinctly pop sensibility transforms the imagery of mass visual culture into fantastical scenarios of striking chromatic intensity. In 2007 he received the Art Jove First Prize in the Balearic Islands and was selected by Achille Bonito Oliva for No More Going On, The Game’s On at Museo Vostell-Malpartida in Cáceres. In 2016 he was awarded both the BMW Award Medal of Honour and the ARCO Madrid Prize from the Spanish Association of Art Critics. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lissone and Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan. He lives and works in Palma de Mallorca.
