Francesco Maluta’s practice gives form to nature and its inhabitants through painting and sculpture, investigating with irony and a fable-like sensibility the survival strategies of hybrid and imaginary species, the beastly banality of human affections, and humanity’s exploitation of the animal world. Since 2013, he has been co-founder of the collective Fondazione Malutta. Among his distinctions are the TRA Treviso Ricerca Arte Prize (2017), finalist positions for the Fondazione Francesco Fabbri Prize (2017) and the Combat Prize (2018), and selection among the winners of the YICCA International Contest of Contemporary Art (2019). Selected solo exhibitions include Cacciatori di mute at Casa Capra, Schio (2019), Totoaba, curated by Rossella Farinotti at TRA Treviso Ricerca Arte (2018), and Bernoccolo at Fonderia Artistica Battaglia, Milan (2018). He has undertaken residencies at VIR Viafarini-in-Residence in Milan and Penthouse Art Space in Brussels. He completed his postgraduate degree at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice in 2013 and lives and works in Milan.
