Gabriele Grones’ painting is rigorous and realist in approach, yet distinctly departs from canonical hyperrealism through an iconic and philosophical investigation of the subject. Natural details and carefully constructed compositions reflect upon the dialogue between individuals and the elements of experience, highlighting their poetic dimensions while evoking the complexity of the surrounding world. In 2021, he presented Conversazioni at Ca’ Pesaro in Venice, placing his works in dialogue with the museum’s permanent collection alongside artists such as Sorolla, Morandi, Casorati, and Anselmo. In 2008, he was selected for the BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery in London, and in 2016 he was awarded a residency at the ESKFF Foundation at Mana Contemporary, Jersey City. His work has been exhibited at institutions including MART Rovereto, MEAM Barcelona, the Fort Wayne Museum in Indiana, the Volkskunstmuseum in Innsbruck, and Mall Galleries in London. He earned a postgraduate degree in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice in 2009 and lives and works between Rovigo, Milan, and New York.
